As the keynote speaker for UC Riverside’s annual Women in Leadership Conference, I shared my journey as a bi-racial woman navigating identity, ambition, and motherhood. I opened up about my loved one’s mental illness for the first time publicly to bring visibility to mental health and emotional wellness. I also spoke about the ongoing experiences my daughter has faced growing up in a world shaped by racism and prejudice. Her first encounter with it at just three years old became the catalyst for the diverse children’s books and inclusive affirmation cards we’ve created together. This talk was rooted in truth, healing, and the power of using our voices to shift culture for ourselves and for the next generation.
